X Creator Subscriptions Requirements and Application Steps

As of August 11, 2026, X lists four minimum application requirements for Creator Subscriptions: be at least 18, have been active in the past 30 days, have at least 2,000 verified followers, and have at least 5 million organic impressions in the previous three months.

These are minimums, not guaranteed approval. X directs creators to its full Subscriptions policy for the complete criteria and says eligible applicants may be approved or placed on a waitlist.

Most importantly, Subscriptions is separate from Creator Revenue Sharing and Original Content Rewards. Subscriptions earns recurring revenue from followers who choose a monthly paid offering. It is not an impression-based ads payout.

The primary official source is X's About Creator Subscriptions help page. Check it and Creator Studio before applying because requirements and supported payment locations can change.

X Creator Subscriptions eligibility checklist

The official minimum application criteria are:

  1. Age: You must be 18 or older.
  2. Recent activity: Your account must have been active in the past 30 days.
  3. Verified followers: You need at least 2,000 verified followers.
  4. Organic impressions: You need at least 5 million organic impressions in the previous three months.

X also says creators who meet the criteria can sign up in countries supported by its payments provider. Its Subscriptions policy contains the broader participation rules.

Do not substitute total followers for verified followers. A profile with 10,000 followers may still fall short if fewer than 2,000 count as verified under X's system.

Likewise, do not assume every visible impression is an organic impression accepted for eligibility. Paid promotion and manipulated traffic should not be treated as a shortcut to the threshold. The account-specific status in Creator Studio is more reliable than a calculation made from screenshots of public analytics.

How to apply for X Subscriptions

X's current application path is:

  1. Open the main menu in X.
  2. Select Creator Studio.
  3. Select Subscriptions.
  4. Complete the enrollment steps shown for your account.

If X approves the offering, it notifies the creator and updates the status in Creator Studio. X says an eligible creator who is not selected may be added to a waitlist.

If the Subscriptions option is missing, check each minimum first, then confirm country and payment-provider availability. A missing control does not prove that a public follower or impression counter is wrong; X may be applying eligibility definitions, account-policy checks, or rollout conditions that a public profile does not show.

What subscribers pay for

After enrollment, followers can pay a monthly fee to unlock the creator's selected perks. X currently describes features including:

  • Subscriber-only posts.
  • A public subscriber badge on replies.
  • A dedicated subscriber-activity tab for creators on supported devices.
  • A link to the creator's Subscription page.
  • Subscriber-only replies on selected public posts.
  • Subscriber-only Spaces.

A paid offering needs a clear recurring promise. “Support me” can work for a highly loyal audience, but most potential subscribers will still want to know what becomes available and how often.

Before applying, decide:

  • What is exclusive and what remains public.
  • How frequently subscribers receive something useful.
  • Whether perks can be delivered consistently.
  • How you will handle questions and feedback.
  • What happens during travel, illness, or a publishing break.

Do not promise personal access, response times, or content volume you cannot maintain.

Who chooses the price?

The creator chooses from price points made available by X. The selected price is what X charges for the offering. X says creators can request a price update in Creator Studio and that most price-change requests are reviewed within one or two business days.

Price should follow the offer, not a fantasy subscriber count. A compact, repeatable benefit at a modest price can be easier to maintain than an expensive tier that requires constant custom work.

When comparing possible prices, account for:

  • Payment processing and app-store fees.
  • Refunds and cancellations.
  • Chargebacks.
  • Taxes and local reporting obligations.
  • The time required to produce exclusive material.
  • The fact that subscriber counts can rise or fall each month.

X says creators are eligible to earn up to approximately 97% of gross Subscriptions revenue and that X does not take a revenue share. It also states that third-party processing or app-store fees, cancellations, and refunds can be deducted. “Up to” is not a guarantee that every sale produces a 97% net payment.

Subscription payout timing and threshold

The official Creator Subscriptions page describes these payment rules:

  • Stripe processes creator payments.
  • Stripe determines payout eligibility and methods based on location.
  • The minimum payment amount is $50.
  • An unpaid amount below $50 rolls into a later month until the threshold is met or exceeded.
  • X says it makes a revenue-share payment approximately 60 days after the end of the month in which it received the Subscription revenue.
  • Payments are typically made within the first two weeks of that later month.

X gives the example that revenue received in March is typically paid within the first two weeks of May.

“Approximately” and “typically” matter. They leave room for provider review, account-information mismatches, refunds, chargebacks, weekends, bank processing, and other adjustments. A creator should not advertise or budget around one guaranteed calendar day.

Subscriptions versus creator rewards

These programs solve different monetization tasks:

Feature Creator Subscriptions Revenue Sharing / Original Content Rewards
Source of money Monthly payments from subscribers Platform creator-reward system
Main performance unit Paying subscribers and selected price Eligible or qualified impressions and program factors
Minimum application follower count 2,000 verified followers Different program-specific criteria
Published payout minimum $50 Currently $30 for Revenue Sharing and Original Content Rewards
Content promise Exclusive perks and access Eligible public original content
Approval Separate application Separate application and status

Creator Revenue Sharing stopped accepting new enrollments on August 7, 2026 and is scheduled to retire on September 7. That change does not mean Creator Subscriptions has closed. It also does not move a creator automatically between programs.

A creator can evaluate both, but should track their requirements, earnings, and payout schedules separately.

Common application mistakes

Using the 500-follower requirement from another X program

The current Subscriptions minimum is 2,000 verified followers. The 500-verified-follower figure belongs to the outgoing Revenue Sharing program and the new Original Content Rewards criteria, not Subscriptions.

Assuming five million impressions means automatic approval

The number is one minimum. Age, recent activity, follower verification, country and payment support, the full Subscriptions policy, and X's selection process still matter.

Applying without a sustainable offer

Eligibility gets you to the application; it does not retain subscribers. Write a simple monthly content plan before setting a price.

Confusing gross revenue with take-home income

Processing fees, app-store fees, refunds, cancellations, chargebacks, and taxes can reduce the amount that reaches you.

Expecting an immediate payout

The official schedule uses a $50 threshold and an approximately 60-day delay after the revenue month. That is different from the two-week cadence published for X's impression-based creator programs.

Before you apply

To apply for X Creator Subscriptions, meet the four published minimums, confirm that your location and payment setup are supported, and submit the application through Creator Studio. Approval is not guaranteed, and the offering needs a clear set of recurring subscriber benefits.
