X Creator Revenue Sharing: Current Eligibility

Current as of August 11, 2026: The program often searched for as "X Ads Revenue Sharing" is officially called Creator Revenue Sharing. New creators can no longer enroll. X stopped accepting new enrollments on August 7, 2026 and says the program will retire on September 7, 2026. Creators who are already enrolled can continue earning through that date. New applicants should review X's replacement, Original Content Rewards, instead.

That status is the most important answer to a search for X ads revenue sharing requirements today. Meeting the former follower and impression thresholds does not reopen enrollment.

X's own Creator Revenue Sharing help page contains the closure notice and transition dates. Because this policy is changing quickly, check that page and your Creator Studio before making decisions based on any checklist.

Can you apply for X ads revenue sharing now?

No. X says it is no longer accepting new Creator Revenue Sharing enrollments as of August 7, 2026.

If your account was not enrolled before the closure, the old eligibility figures are not an application path. X directs creators to the new Original Content Rewards program. Existing Revenue Sharing members are expected to receive access to apply for the replacement program beginning September 8, subject to its own eligibility review.

This distinction matters because many older articles still present the previous thresholds as if completing them guarantees an Apply button. They now describe the outgoing program, not an open application.

Requirements for creators already in Revenue Sharing

X's help page still lists the account conditions for Creator Revenue Sharing. An account must:

  1. Have an active Premium, Premium Business, or Premium Organizations subscription.
  2. Have at least 5 million organic impressions within the previous three months.
  3. Have at least 500 verified followers.
  4. Be in a supported country.
  5. Comply with the X User Agreement.

These conditions help explain continued eligibility for an existing member through the program's final earning period. They should not be read as a way for a new creator to enroll after August 7.

To receive money, an eligible creator must also connect a Stripe payout account or, where available, an X Money Account, and complete identity verification through Stripe. Account and content compliance remain part of eligibility. X states that it can suspend participation when it believes its rules have been violated.

A useful way to separate the requirements is:

Requirement type What it covers
Premium subscription Account-level access condition
Organic impressions Recent audience activity
Verified followers Eligible follower count, not total followers
Supported country Program and payment availability
Rules and monetization standards Ongoing account and content compliance
Payout setup and identity check Ability to receive an approved payout

Passing a numerical threshold is only one part of the process. X reserves discretion over participation and can change or cancel the program.

What replaces X Creator Revenue Sharing?

X calls the replacement Original Content Rewards. It is not simply the old ads revenue sharing program with a new label. Its official page emphasizes original content and qualified impressions from Premium users in the Home Timeline.

As of August 11, X lists these application criteria for Original Content Rewards:

  • Be based in an available country.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have an account in good standing.
  • Use a Personal or Business Account; political and government organization accounts are excluded.
  • Hold an active Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business subscription.
  • Have at least 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the previous 90 days; impressions on replies are excluded.
  • Have at least 500 verified followers.
  • Actively publish original content as X defines it.

Meeting every item does not guarantee acceptance. X says eligible creators submit an application for review. Existing Revenue Sharing members are expected to get access to apply starting September 8, rather than being transferred automatically.

The lower published impression threshold can look easier than the outgoing 5-million-impression requirement, but the measures are not equivalent. The replacement specifies Home Timeline impressions from verified users and excludes reply impressions. It also applies an originality standard. Do not compare the two figures as if they count the same traffic.

What counts as original content?

X describes original content as work you personally wrote, filmed, designed, or produced that reflects your own voice, expertise, perspective, or creativity. Analysis and commentary can qualify when they add genuine value.

The official replacement-program policy excludes copied work, minimally modified content, compilations with little original framing, and cross-platform reposts made by someone other than the original creator. It also excludes paid, promoted, artificially generated, or fraudulent impressions from qualified impressions.

Owning the work matters. Publishing your own clean source video on more than one platform is different from downloading another creator's post and uploading it as yours. You remain responsible for copyright and permissions even when a post appears transformative enough for a monetization review.

How to check your actual status

Do not infer eligibility from public follower counts alone. Use the account that would receive the payout and check the controls X provides:

  1. Open X and go to Creator Studio.
  2. Check your current Revenue Sharing status if you were already enrolled.
  3. Open Original Content Rewards to see the account-specific eligibility state when access is available.
  4. Confirm that the displayed verified-follower and eligible-impression counts meet the relevant program's definitions.
  5. Review payout connection and identity-verification status.
  6. Resolve any account-standing or monetization-policy notices before applying.

X also links to its monetization settings from the Revenue Sharing help page. The status shown there is more useful than a third-party eligibility guess because X can account for country support, follower verification, impression type, enforcement, and rollout access.

Common eligibility mistakes

Counting all followers

The outgoing and replacement programs refer to verified followers, not total followers. A profile can show more than 500 followers while remaining below the verified-follower requirement.

Counting every impression the same way

Revenue Sharing refers to organic impressions over three months. Original Content Rewards uses a narrower published measure: qualifying Home Timeline impressions from Premium users, with reply impressions excluded from its application threshold.

Assuming Premium guarantees acceptance

A qualifying Premium plan is one requirement, not approval. Impression, follower, location, account-standing, content, application, and payment conditions also apply.

Following an outdated Apply guide

A guide written before August 7 may correctly describe the old enrollment flow but still be unusable now. The closure date overrides the earlier process.

Treating Subscriptions as the same program

X Subscriptions lets followers pay a monthly amount for creator perks. It has separate eligibility rules and a separate payout model. Approval for Subscriptions does not mean approval for Revenue Sharing or Original Content Rewards. See the focused guide to X Creator Subscriptions requirements for that program.

Check the program shown in Creator Studio

New applicants cannot currently join X Creator Revenue Sharing, even if they satisfy its former 5-million-impression and 500-verified-follower thresholds. Existing members can remain eligible through September 7, 2026, subject to X's rules and account requirements. The relevant next application is Original Content Rewards, which has different impression definitions, originality standards, and review requirements.
