Video script reading time calculator
Estimate script speaking time, add pauses, and plan text for a target video duration.
Planning estimate only, not audio analysis. Your text stays in this browser. Punctuation does not automatically add pauses.
Up to 100,000 UTF-16 code units. Pace: 1–1,000 WPM. Pauses: 0–86,400 seconds. Target: greater than 0, up to 86,400 seconds; leave blank to skip.
Word units are word-like segments from Intl.Segmenter using locale en (the page language). Punctuation and emoji are excluded. Units are not syllables; Thai/CJK segmentation and timing vary. Adjust WPM to your own delivery.
Paste text containing letters or numbers to estimate its duration.
How to use
Paste spoken text only. Choose a pace or edit WPM, then enter the total extra pause time. Optionally set a target in seconds. Speaking seconds = word units ÷ WPM × 60; total adds pauses. Target capacity = floor(max(0, target − pauses) × WPM ÷ 60). Excess and available units use that capacity, not an automatic script edit.
Common questions
Is this an exact duration for every language?
No. Browser word boundaries, language, delivery, numbers, and pauses change spoken timing. Thai and CJK word units are not directly comparable to English words. Rehearse a sample and adjust WPM; no audio is uploaded or analyzed.
